CIEH Level 2 Award in Health and Safety in the Workplace

Designed to ensure that all employees are aware of their own safety and the safety of customers, contractors and the public.   This qualification can be tailored to business and individual needs to make the learning experience relevant and fit for purpose.

 

Why is this training important?

Employers are responsible for providing safe and healthy workplace conditions as well as the right systems and methods for safe activities.  Nevertheless employees also have a vital part to play in the equation.  They need the right knowledge and the right attitude which demands proper training in the basics of health and safety, as well as specific training for individual tasks.

CIEH Level 2 Award in Principles of Risk Assessment

This qualification is designed to help improve the workplace culture for occupational health and safety by enabling learners to understand the basic principles of risk assessment.

 

Why is this training important?

This CIEH Level 2 Award Principles in Risk Assessment was created in response to industry requirements for all employees to be risk aware.

Although not all employees will be expected to undertake risk assessments themselves, they may be asked to contribute to the process and will be expected to act always to protect their own health and safety and that of others.

 

Learning outcomes

 

• Ability to contribute both to the maintenance of a safe work environment and to process of formal risk assessment.

• Understand the legal requirements for risk assessment

• Understand the principles of risk assessment including:

- Hazards, risks and control measures

- The hierarchy of control

- Risk assessment review and record keeping

 

CIEH Level 2 Award in Manual Handling - Principles and Practice

This qualification, aimed at those who carry out manual handling at work, provides essential information about manual handling hazards and their control.

 

To give you maximum flexibility it can be delivered as a half-day programme for learners who only wish to gain the CIEH Level 2 Award in Principles of Manual Handling.  Those who need to learn about practical manual handling techniques should stay on for a further half-day training session and assessment to gain the full CIEH Level 2 Award in Manual Handling - Principles and Practice

 

Why is this training important?

Under the Manual Handling Operations Regulations 1992, employers are required to take appropriate steps to reduce the risk of injury to employees - this includes suitable training.  The CIEH Level 2 Award in Manual Handling - Principles and Practice combines both the theoretical and hands-on elements of the subject and teaches learners techniques to lift, carry, push and pull objects safely within their individual capabilities.

Identify and understand the risks associated with manual handling

Learn the value of risk assessment and how to apply it

Make recommendations to manage risks

Apply the principles of safer handling to a range of everyday manual handling tasks

Course: Health and Safety

Aimed at: All staff working in Health and Social Care settings.

 

Duration: 6½ hours

Course: Basic Infection Control

Aimed at: All staff working in a health care setting

 

Duration: 4 hours

 

Cost:

At one of our training bases: £40 per place

Course: Basic Food Hygiene

Aimed at: All staff undertaking any form of food handling

 

Duration: 4 hours

 

Cost: £40 per person at First City site or £280 per session at other venue

• Bacteria and prevention methods

• Safe food preparation  

• The danger zone and temperature controls

Course: Paediatric Emergency First Aid

Aimed at: Childminders, Nursery and School staff (dealing with Foundation Stage) and anybody who deals with children and wants a more in depth course. This course is in line with the Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), Local Authority Approved and meets the needs of Ofsted.

 

Duration: 2 Days (12 Hours)

 

Cost: At one of our training bases: £120 per place. Off-site for up to 12: £800

Course: Emergency First Aid (1 Day)

Aimed at: All staff working within an adult care setting

 

Duration: 6.5 hours

 

Cost: £60 per person at First City site or £400 per session (12 max) at other venue

Course: First Aid at Work

Aimed at: Staff working for organisations that required qualified first aiders to comply with the requirements of the Health and Safety at Work Act: 1974.

 

Duration:

Initial Course - 3 full days (6 hours each day)

Refresher Course - 2 full days (6 hours each Day)
